Maybe one of these cycles, we’ll get it right. @nealstephenson uses a fascinating (as always!) post-apocalyptic culture of knowledge sequestration in his book β€œAnathem”: the learned few are cloistered like monks in nested hierarchies, with the most powerful knowledge being held by those whose circle is opened but once a century.
