Here comes the second Dark Age of mankind On hoofbeats of horsemen Arriving on a platter like The head of John the Baptist Religion playing the same role As in the first Nothing has changed within us To prevent the destruction of our Cosmetic alterations Humanity inflates itself until it bursts Like pus from a boil In a punctuated loop As cyclical as cicadas Save as many books as you can
Oh, and as for giving you too much credit:
1. You cannot make me stop 😝
2. Consider it balance for you not taking *enough* credit — sort of like how the two thin Jesuses balance out the fat one in Michelangelo’s Last Supper (h/t Monty Python) 😹

Maybe one of these cycles, we’ll get it right. @nealstephenson uses a fascinating (as always!) post-apocalyptic culture of knowledge sequestration in his book “Anathem”: the learned few are cloistered like monks in nested hierarchies, with the most powerful knowledge being held by those whose circle is opened but once a century.
